As if you even had to ask...

Here's my official endorsement, almost a week before the election:

Let me be clear. If Obama wins, that doesn't magically change everything overnight. The war cannot just end. Racism will still exist. There will still be poverty in the US and abroad. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Keep your fingers crossed for Obama...and keep them crossed after Obama. We have a lot of work to do still.

Yes, it is hard to work with your fingers crossed. I chose a strange cliche.

Also, quick thought:

With regards to the racism point, I fear people will assume racism is a thing of the past just because the head of state is identified as an African-American. It obviously doesn't work that way. Racism is systemic. It's almost unconscious at this point. It's so deeply engrained, we don't even realize how we contribute to it.

In some ways I think the biggest strike against racism doesn't happen when the President of the United States becomes a person of color, but when Jesus does...because he actually was one.

sorry i keep commenting on all your posts.. but the shit is funny.

Jesus will never turn into a person of color.. until racism is over.. why? cuz THE BIBLE BELT OF THE MID WEST OWN THE RIGHTS TO THOSE PICTURES MANG LOL!!!!

they actually have to believe a person of color can be worthy of such title as "Jesus Christ" before they will change the iconography of the Son of God Himself and continue to worship Him.

we have a long ways to go, indeed.
